  • Preethi replacement lid with gasket only for jar MGA501

    • ⚠️ Lid + Gasket Only – No Jar, No Blade – This is the clear top lid with its black rubber gasket for the Preethi MGA 501 0.4 L chutney jar. The steel jar, blade and coupler are not included.
    • 🔒 Twist-Lock (Cross-Lock) Fit – Two angled locking grooves on the lid skirt engage the jar rim when you turn it, so the lid sits locked down while the mixer runs. Moulded arrow and TURN TO OPEN marking show the direction.
    • 💧 Rubber Gasket Seated Under the Rim – The black gasket ring sits at the base of the skirt and seals against the jar mouth. A worn, stretched or missing gasket is the most common reason a chutney jar leaks from the top.
    • 📏 Approx. 90 mm Across the Locking Skirt – Check the inside of your jar mouth before ordering. Same lid, same 0.4 L jar — if your old lid looks like ours, this is your part.
    • 👀 Clear Dome Lid – See your coconut chutney or ginger-garlic paste while it grinds, so you can stop at exactly the texture you want.
    • ✋ Two Raised Grip Tabs – Moulded finger tabs on top give you leverage to lock and unlock the lid, even with wet hands.
    • 🛡️ Safety Marking Moulded In – Embossed reminder on the dome: FIX LID ON JAR BEFORE OPERATING MIXER.
    • ♻️ Save the Jar, Replace Only the Lid – A cracked lid or tired gasket doesn't mean buying a whole new chutney jar. Swap the lid and keep grinding.
    • 📦 What's in the Box – 1 × clear chutney jar lid, 1 × black rubber gasket (fitted). Country of origin: India, No warranty, No returns / NO replacement

You're making coconut chutney for Sunday dosa, the mixie is roaring, and a thin green-white line starts creeping out from under the lid and down the side of the jar. The jar is fine. The blade is fine. It's the lid — a cracked dome or a gasket that has gone flat and loose after a few years of daily grinding. This replacement lid with gasket fits the Preethi MGA 501 0.4 L chutney jar, so you fix the leak without buying a new jar.

Will this lid fit my Preethi chutney jar?

It fits the Preethi MGA 501 chutney jar — the 0.4 L (400 ml) small steel jar. Retail listings of the MGA 501 jar show it being used on Preethi Eco Plus, Chef Pro and Blue Leaf mixer grinders, but what matters is the jar, not the machine. Compare your old lid with ours: a clear dome with two raised tabs, a black gasket under the rim, two angled locking grooves on the skirt and the moulded line FIX LID ON JAR BEFORE OPERATING MIXER. If it matches and the skirt measures about 90 mm across, this is the right part.

Not confirmed for: the Preethi 0.5 L chutney jar (MGA 504 / Steele), the 0.4 L Grind n' Store jar, the MGA 502 jar, or the chutney jars of the Crown, Galaxy, Leaf Multi, Zodiac or Zion ranges. Don't assume these share the MGA 501 lid. If you're unsure, WhatsApp us a photo of your jar and old lid before ordering.

    How does the twist-lock work?

Place the lid on the jar and turn it in the arrow's direction until it stops — the two cross-lock grooves on the lid skirt slide over the jar's rim lugs and hold it down. To remove, turn the other way (the flange is marked TURN TO OPEN). The two raised tabs on top give your fingers something to push against, which helps when your hands are wet from washing coriander or soaking dal.

Always lock the lid fully before you switch on. A half-turned lid can lift under pressure when you're grinding a wet paste.

Why does my chutney jar leak from the top?

Most top leaks come from the gasket — a rubber ring that has stretched, hardened, cracked, or slipped out of its seat. Rubber ages with heat, turmeric, oil and daily washing, so after a few years it stops pressing firmly against the jar mouth. This lid comes with a gasket already seated, so both the dome and the seal are new.

Two honest caveats: a new lid will not cure a leak from the bottom of the jar (that's the blade assembly or coupler seal), and it can't make up for an overfilled jar. For wet grinding — coconut chutney, green chutney, ginger-garlic paste — keep the jar no more than about half full and add water a little at a time.

Why a clear dome lid helps

You can watch the texture change without stopping the mixer and opening the lid. Coarse for peanut chutney, smooth for mint-coriander, a quick pulse for podi or a small batch of ginger-garlic paste — a clear dome lets you stop at the right moment instead of guessing.

    Fitting and care

    • Check the gasket sits evenly in its groove all the way round before first use.
    • Wash by hand with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. Remove the gasket now and then to clean underneath — turmeric and oil collect there.
    • Dry the gasket fully before refitting so it seats flat.
    • Avoid abrasive scrubbers on the clear dome; they leave it cloudy.
    • Don't grind very hot ingredients with the lid locked — let them cool first.
    • Replace the gasket if it becomes loose, flattened or cracked.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Does this include the jar or blade?

No — you get only the lid and its rubber gasket. The 0.4 L steel jar, blade assembly and coupler are not included. If you need the complete jar, see our Preethi MGA 501 0.4 L chutney jar listing.

Is the gasket included and already fitted?

Yes, one black rubber gasket comes seated on the lid. Check it sits evenly in its groove before first use.

Will it fit my Preethi Eco Plus / Blue Leaf / Chef Pro?

It fits if your small chutney jar is the MGA 501 (0.4 L) jar. The lid fits the jar, not the motor unit, so compare your old lid's shape, tabs and locking grooves with our photos, or WhatsApp us a picture to confirm.

My old lid leaks during grinding — will this fix it?

If the leak is from under the lid, a new lid and gasket usually fixes it. If liquid is coming from the bottom of the jar, the problem is the blade or coupler seal, not the lid. Also keep wet grinding to about half the jar.

    What size is the lid?

About 90 mm across the locking skirt — the part that goes into the jar mouth. Measure the inside of your jar mouth if you want to double-check.

    Is it dishwasher safe?

We recommend hand washing. Warm, soapy water keeps the clear dome from clouding and the gasket from drying out.

Do you sell the gasket alone?

Yes, when in stock — ask us on call or WhatsApp. If your dome is uncracked and only the seal is worn, the gasket on its own is the cheaper fix.

Does it fit other brands' mixer jars?

No — it is made for the Preethi MGA 501 chutney jar only. Other brands use different mouth sizes and locking lugs.
